While White Rock is famous for our summers- with beautiful beaches, amazing sunsets, and fantastic patios- our winters are also wonderful, with plenty of ways to enjoy our City by the Sea and get active!
Here’s our guide to enjoying Winter in White Rock:
Outdoor Trails
Get ahead of your New Year’s fitness resolutions by getting outside and enjoying White Rock’s amazing trails!
The City of White Rock’s website has a list of all of White Rock’s trails.
Plus- our very own Emma showed off the trails at Centennial and Ruth Johnson Park. Check it out here!
Beautiful Sunrises and Sunsets

Locals know what visitors have long suspected- sunrises and sunsets are far more vivid in winters. Plus, with the shorter days, you don’t have to get up too early nor stay up too late to enjoy them!
Enjoy the sunset from the end of White Rock’s pier- the longest pier in Canada- then head over to one of White Rock’s award-winning restaurants for dinner. Or if sunrises are more your jam, enjoy a walk along our promenade before heading to one of White Rock’s famous brunch spots like Five Corners Café or the Wooden Spoon.
Regardless of whether you’re on Team Sunrise or Team Sunset, winter in White Rock has you covered!
Indoor Physical Fitness
Even if you want to stay inside, White Rock has plenty of options to stay active. Whether it’s local fitness trainers, friendly pilates gyms, or boutique yoga studios, White Rock has a plethora of options for you to stay fit.
Plus- The White Rock BIA hosted a free livestream yoga class on their Facebook page. Taught by an instructor at Live Yoga, this class is available to everyone. If you’re missing White Rock and can’t make it out to the peninsula, be sure to check it out!
Cafes
Don’t just focus on physical health- it’s important to connect with friends and enjoy a little R&R. And what better way to do that than at a café?
White Rock’s café culture is strong, and the winter is the best time to catch up over a latte and a pastry.
Our own Emma recently explored three of White Rock’s favourite cafes– Caffe Artigiano, Chez Christophe, and Laura’s Coffee Corner. Check it out and find your cozy cafe!
