The 2024 White Rock Sea Festival & Semiahmoo Days promises an unforgettable BC Day long weekend filled with joy and excitement. For 73 years, this iconic event has been a staple of summer in White Rock, drawing thousands to its picturesque beaches. From August 2-4, the waterfront from West Beach to East Beach will be alive with free, family-friendly activities and entertainment.

The festivities kick off on Friday evening (August 2) with an outdoor movie in Semiahmoo Park. Then all weekend-long Semiahmoo Park will offer delicious food and family entertainment, including the Semiahmoo First Nation’s famous salmon barbeque, the fun-filled Kid’s Zone, performances on the Spirit Stage, and an Indigenous Market. East Beach will be home to the Environmental Zone where you can learn about the ocean, the habitat found in Boundary Bay, and it’s the location for an invigorating morning pilates class!  Over at West Beach, Memorial Park will be packed with live music and performances on the P’Quals Memorial Park Stage, boat tours, and games for the whole family.

This year, the much-anticipated Torchlight Parade makes a grand return after a five-year hiatus, illuminating Marine Drive with vibrant floats and vehicles starting at 8:30 pm at Oxford Street and making their way along Marine Drive to Semiahmoo Park. And, fireworks, sponsored by Thrifty Foods, will conclude the Festival with a spectacular display on Sunday starting at 10:15 p.m. View the show from anywhere along the waterfront.

Tips for attending Sea Festival & Semiahmoo Days:

Tip #1: Go early if you want to find parking anywhere near the beach, but remember that traffic will be busy, and access in and out of the area may be limited.

Tip #2: Instead of worrying about tip #1, take public transit if you can. (Please note that there will be no free trolley service)

Tip #3: Check out the entire event. Sea Festival & Semiahmoo Days span from West Beach to Semiahmoo Park at East Beach.

Tip #4: Pack your patience. It’s going to be busy, both on the beach and in the restaurants and ice cream shops.

Tip #5: If you want to take a break from the beach, the White Rock Farmers Market takes place on Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm. It’s in Miramar Plaza, just up the hill (about a 20-minute walk).

Tip #5: Have fun!
