This May, head to White Rock for the new White Rock Jazz & Blues Festival. The lively sounds of jazz and blues music will take over the streets of uptown White Rock from May 24 – 26, with free outdoor performances by an amazing group of talented musicians.
During the day, performers will be in various outdoor locations all around the city performing toe-tapping jazz and blues for free. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and let the music move you! In the evenings, tickets are available for intimate performances by the David Gogo Band and Jim Byrnes Band live at Blue Frog Studios.
Highlights include:
David Gogo Band (ticketed, May 24)
After recently recording his 17th album, produced by Steve Marriner, David Gogo and his trio are set to boogie at Blue Frog! They will feature favourite songs from his extensive catalogue and offer a sneak peek of the new album. Get ready for this high-energy power trio to rock the house!
Jim Byrnes Band (ticketed May 25)
For nearly fifty years, Jim Byrnes has been captivating audiences with his soulful crooning, powerful belting, and heartfelt sweet-talking. He has sung more songs than most people hear in a lifetime, delivering each one with evocative, smoky vocals that speak of hard-earned truth. The sheer joy in his music is reason enough to celebrate Jim Byrnes as a living musical treasure.
This year, the festival offers over a dozen free performances all across the vibrant Uptown and Five Corners neighbourhoods. On Saturday, May 25, immerse yourself in the rich sounds of jazz and blues at various locations, including Miramar Plaza, Saltaire Amphitheatre, Five Corners, and outside Laura’s Coffee Corner. Enjoy acts like the Razmajazz Ensemble, Katrina Kadoski, Hint of Lime, Ruby Lane Organ Trio, and many more. Don’t miss these pop-up performances that will bring music to life all around Uptown and Five Corners!
On May 26 the festival presents a unique and captivating day of programming in partnership with the Casse-Tete Festival of Experimental Music. On this final day, enjoy a series of free performances at the Saltaire Amphitheatre, located at the corner of Johnston Road and Thrift Avenue, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
