The sun is out which means patio season is officially here! Don’t miss out on spending some time, on one or more of the many oceanside patios White Rock has to offer. And, while it may still be a wee bit on the chilly side, many local restaurants have heaters and offer blankets to keep you cosy and comfortable while you check out that view. If you are on the hunt for the perfect patio to spend an afternoon or an evening, here are some great options:

West Beach Vibes

Uli’s Restaurant
Uli’s has been a White Rock staple for over 30 years and their cosy patio provides diners with spectacular views of Semiahmoo Bay and the White Rock pier. Settle in with a pitcher of sangria, and ask for their “secret” burger menu. (15023 Marine Drive)

FIVE Kitchen & Raw Oyster Bar
Settle into a seat on the patio at FIVE and take in the view while enjoying the Lebanese flavours of this New England style Oyster Bar. The menu changes based on what’s seasonal. We recommend the “hot pot” or the mussels. (15047 Marine Drive)

Charlie Don’t Surf
Charlie Don’t Surf is a classic waterfront eatery with menu options that the whole family will enjoy. Whether you are out with friends, family, yourself or on a date, Charlie’s patio is the perfect atmosphere!  We love the fish tacos paired with an ice-cold, local, beer. (15011 Marine Drive)

The Ocean Beach
The Ocean Beach is a favourite of local food lovers and visitors, and their patio has some of the best views of Memorial Park, the pier and Semiahmoo Bay. It’s the perfect spot to while away a sunny afternoon with a craft cocktail, share plates, and the best people-watching on the strip. (14995 Marine Drive)

The Boathouse
The Boathouse takes patio dining to a whole new level by offering both a ground-level patio and a rooftop patio. If you are looking for the best view of the beach to enjoy while eating a meal, definitely head over to The Boathouse. (14935 Marine Drive)

Cosmos Greek Restaurant
Are you craving authentic Greek food? Cosmos has you covered! Share an appetizer platter and some ouzo and enjoy the sunshine. They even offer live music and belly dancing occasionally as live entertainment!  (14871 Marine Drive)

Cilantro Indian Cuisine
Experience the flavours of authentic Indian cuisine. Familiar favourites like butter chicken and lamb korma share the menu with intriguing new dishes, fluffy rice and crispy naan, all served with a warm smile.  Settle into a spot on the spacious patio, try some new dishes and take in the view. (14945 Marine Drive)

MKR Kitchen & Bar
The beach may not be the first place you think of when it comes to Nepalese food, but MKR Kitchen & Bar is serving up delicious momos (dumplings) and Nepali chowmein, with a great patio and views of Semiahmoo Bay and the White Rock pier. (15019 Marine Drive)

East Beach Vibes

Finlays East Beach Cafe
Settle into a seat on their all-weather patio and enjoy homestyle cooking with a spectacular view of East Beach and Semiahmoo Bay. Finlays East Beach Cafe is a popular spot for locals known for its outstanding breakfast and brunch offerings. (15611 Marine Drive)

Zapoteca Mexican Grill
Authentic Mexican flavours are served up in a casual beachfront location. Grab a seat on the heated patio and catch a White Rock sunset. We recommend trying one of the Molcajetes (the Carmella is a favourite). It’s served in a hot stone mortar and is perfect for sharing. (15495 Marine Drive)

Moby Dick
You can’t visit the beach without fish & chips, and Moby Dick has been a local favourite since 1975.  Take a seat on their heated nautical patio and tuck into a generous portion of light and crispy fish and chips and housemade tartar sauce. (15479 Marine Drive)

Washington Avenue Grill
The Washington Avenue Grill offers an upscale casual dining experience with a spectacular view of Semiahmoo Bay from their enclosed sunroom.  The WAG, as it’s affectionately known, serves Pacific Northwest cuisine focussing on local and seasonal ingredients. And they have a killer cocktail list!  (#5 – 15782 Marine Drive)

  1. Not quite sure how Uli’s, one of the more iconic restaurants on Marine Drive, was missed in this article. The namesake for the restaurant is still with us and his son Tyson now owns and runs the restaurant. Excellent location (right across from the start of the pier), top notch food and friendly service leaves Uli’s constantly near the top of what White Rock’s waterfront foid scene has to offer. The author had a pretty big miss leaving them out.

    1. Hi Leigh – I think, if you have another read, you’ll note that we did, in fact include Uli’s! It is third in the article, and the main photo is of Uli’s awesome patio! Thanks for reading.

  2. Come on, get real! What about the East Beach restaurants… Baja Cantina, Zapateca, Poultry in Motion, Cottage Lunch, Moody Dick, Watt’s Cooking… don’t be afraid to trek over to the east side of the hump! Explore White Rock, like your name says!!!

    1. You are absolutely right! There are lots of awesome spots on East Beach as well. Stay tuned for a dedicated post!

  3. Will the patios be extended onto Marine again this year? Sure hope so…it created such a vibrant atmosphere!

    1. Wasn’t it great?! We’ll have to wait and see what The City of White Rock decides this summer.
