Valentine’s Day is less than a week away … and White Rock restaurants are ready to take your reservations (or your take out order) for this most amorous night of the year. Many of them are offering special menus to make it a dining experience to remember and follow up your meal with a treat from a local bakery and a romantic stroll along the promenade and the pier.

Take in the spectacular view of Semiahmoo Bay at the much loved Washington Avenue Grill. Enjoy all your favourites on their special Valentine’s limited menu, featuring items like smoked salmon on wonton crisps, beef carpaccio, lobster stuffed ravioli and a slow-braised beef short rib. A local favourite, and always a romantic choice, Jan’s on the Beach are offering a three-course menu for the weekend for both dine-in and take-out. The menu starts with a choice of French Onion soup or a mixed green salad. Entrees include salmon and crab wellington with bearnaise sauce and jumbo prawns, a 10 oz New York strip loin with green peppercorn sauce and garlic mashed potatoes, a half rack of New Zealand lamb with wild mushroom risotto or spinach & ricotta cannelloni. Onyx Steak & Seafood Bar, White Rock’s favourite steak house, is hosting a three-course dinner with mouthwatering items like beef carpaccio, crispy quinoa cakes, a 16-oz bone-in rib steak with potato pave and seasonal vegetables, ahi tuna and a maple bacon cheesecake. All you need is love … and The Boathouse. Their special Valentine’s menu is one for the senses and features items like their delicious West Coast Chowder, lobster and crab ravioli, miso-crusted wild halibut and a choice of a seasonal crème brulee or molten lava cake. Make it a Valentine’s night in with a gourmet grazing box for 2. Local company Terracotta Tummy is offering a vegan Valentine’s grazing box that includes two Blue Heron cheeses, house-made crackers, salted-caramel macaroons, preserves, pickles, fresh fruits, nuts and seeds.  And FIVE Kitchen (604 538-8153) has deluxe charcuterie boxes available to order that are packed with cured meats, cheeses, breads and spreads, everything you could need for a relaxing, romantic night in.

  1. We are happy to support the local restaurants during these trying times. It would be nice if the City would extend the free parking as it would enable more people to get out there and support all the local businesses. Do your part in this!

  2. During this time in 2021 ot would be mutually beneficial to implement free parking into the spring.
