Sweet Republic promotion June 25 raises funds for Peace Arch Hospital
WHITE ROCK (June 20) – On Sunday, June 25th, the Joseph Richard Group (JRG –The Joseph Richard Group) will prove that eating ice cream isn’t just good for your health, it can help improve the wellbeing of an entire community.
In keeping with JRG’s corporate philosophy of supporting worthwhile community initiatives and organizations, its gourmet Sweet Republic ice cream shop on White Rock beach will donate one dollar from every ice cream sold this upcoming Sunday (June 25) to the Peace Arch Hospital & Community Health Foundation. The PAH Foundation is currently undertaking a campaign to redevelop and triple the size of the hospital’s emergency department. Earlier this year, JRG also supported the Foundation’s gala and campaign to build a new hospice residence, when a dinner hosted by JRG Director of Culinary Operations, Chef Matthew Stowe (Top Chef Canada winner) and JRG Corporate Chef David Jorge (MasterChef Canada winner), was auctioned off for an amazing $11,000.
Located inside JRG’s Oceanside Yacht Club & Public House – formerly The Hemingway at 14995 Marine Drive, the recently opened Sweet Republic is a pop-up ice cream shop, open for the summer, that features a wild new dessert menu designed by Chef Matthew Stowe Chef Concrete_Cook. The menu includes a variety of soft serve ice cream flavours topped with eye-popping ingredients like key lime curd, cotton candy, toasted marshmallows, and even bacon. Ice cream lovers wondering how award-winning chefs come up with such unique creations can ask Chef Stowe themselves as he’ll be on site from 1pm to 5pm this Sunday to welcome guests to Sweet Republic and Oceanside.
“It’s not often you can help build a better hospital just by eating dessert, but I think we’ve found a great way to put those two activities together,” said JRG CEO Ryan Richard Moreno. “With the weatherman us a hot and sunny week, this first weekend of the summer is the perfect time to bring the family to the White Rock waterfront to enjoy the beach, the food and the fun activities this great area has to offer.” KiSS Radio will also be in attendance this day.
