On February 3, 1959, musicians BUDDY HOLLY, RITCHIE VALENS and J.P “THE BIG BOPPER” RICHARDSON were killed in a plane crash near Clear Lake, Iowa after their famous Winter Dance Party concert at the Surf Ballroom. The event later became known as “The Day the Music Died“, after singer-songwriter Don McLean referred to it as such in his 1971 song “American Pie”.

Now, sixty years later, Blue Frog Studios is proud to host THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED- 60th ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL, starring Nick Stice and his band, direct from residency at the legendary Memories Theater in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

From the Producers of The Jersey Boys at Blue Frog, “The Day the Music Died” is a night of music featuring all the hits that shot BUDDY HOLLY to fame from 1957 with “THAT’LL BE THE DAY’ until his tragic death less than two years later on. The show also features a special tribute to RITCHIE VALENS and his big hit “LA BAMBA”, and THE BIG BOPPERS’ “CHANTILLY LACE” and over 20 of Buddy Holly’s greatest hits including ‘THAT’LL BE THE DAY’, ‘PEGGY SUE’, ‘EVERYDAY’, ‘OH BOY’, ‘NOT FADE AWAY’, ‘RAVE ON’ and ‘RAINING IN MY HEART’, plus a tribute to The Everley Brothers, Frankie Limon, The Chantels, and Connie Francis.
