Sculptures are back along the beach in White Rock, but this time instead of being made of sand, these stunning new sculptures are made from materials ranging from bronze and iron to stone and marble. Experience an exciting burst of creativity on the shores of White Rock from September 14, 2023, to August 2024 and enjoy the White Rock P’Quals Promenade Sculpture Competition, an outdoor art installation and competition.

Renowned artists from across British Columbia are showcasing their works along the east side of the historic White Rock Pier, transforming the promenade into an open-air art gallery. Ten sculptures, stretching from the pier to the iconic P’Quals (the white rock) grace the waterfront and invite visitors to take a stroll and be immersed in a harmonious blend of art and nature.

The entries all, fittingly, pay homage to water and the sea. There’s Neptune, the God of the Sea, a breaching orca and gently flowing kelp, to mention a few of the sculptures. Whether you’re a seasoned art enthusiast or simply looking for a memorable family outing, these sculptures will ignite your imagination and spark conversation. And, if you find one (or three) that you love, be sure to go online and cast your vote for the chance to win a prize.

Make a day of it and stay for lunch or dinner at one of White Rock’s many restaurants. Be sure to learn about the city’s history at the White Rock Museum, and don’t forget to go for a stroll on the beach!
